Tax credits recovery system ‘casts families into poverty’

Arrangements for the renewal of tax credits claims represent a specific failure of the system that "casts families into poverty rather than lifting them out," according to a Labour MP whose Commons early day motion was backed by 110 MPs. This week's issue of Tolley's Practical Tax newsletter* has more on this and:

OECD urges ministers to set sights on tax havens; Self assessment online is faster and greener; Darling urged to reduce taxes; Mandelson warns of tax-motivated incorporations.
